What is an Addon Domain

An addon domain is a functional domain that can be created from within your cPanel. Consider that you have main domain and you want to add additional domains, Addon Domain do the job for you , in Addon domain all the regular domain functions are available like email forwarding,adding emails account and other functions.  

Once you create the addon the new folder will create on the root of the primary domain that you have with the same name of your addon domain name e.g (if your primary domain is www.primarydomain.com and your addon domain is www.addondomain.com the folder addondomain.com will be created as the root folder of your addon domain),also the cPanel will create sub-domain called addondomain.primarydomain.com , both addon domain and the new sub domain will redirect to the same new addon web site.

On the addon domain you can relay on the primary FTP account or you can create addon domain’s FTP account and create emails accounts that related to your addon domain.

How to create Addon Domain

To create new Addon Domain few simple steps to add :

1. Login to your cPanel account.
2. Locate Domain section in your cPanel dashboard and click Addon Domains link icon.
3. On the Create an Addon Domain Page Fill the require fields
   1. New Domain Name: the new addon domain name.
   2. Subdomain : automatically add the suggest sub-domain name by cPanel.
   3. Document Root: the root folder name of the new addon domain “Added automatically “.
   4. You can tick Create an FTP account associated with this Addon Domain to add addon domain new ftp account :
      1. FTP Username:add new ftp account username.
      2. Password:the new ftp password.
      3. Password (Again):Re-type the new ftp password for verification.
   5. Click Add Domain
4. Once addon domain Added you can find it on the list at the end of the same page.

How to solve Errors while creating Addon Domain

• (XID fqu3sp) Could not determine the nameserver IP addresses for “youraddondomain.com”. Please make sure that the domain is registered with a valid domain registrar.
  
  • To Solve the problem you have to add the correct nameserver “If you register the domain” of your new addon domain mapping to our XsoftHost servers.
• (XID zj2447) Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver
  • To solve the XID zj2447 error steps to follow “Consider that your addon domain nameserver mapping to your NS1 IP 127.1.1.0 and NS2 Map to IP 127.1.1.1”
    • Login to your Server that host the cPanel using Root account
    • Run the following command , if the file not exists never mined it will create new one once save the file
      vi /etc/ips.remotedns
    • Press I letter to start edit the file and then Add the Two Ips that we consider it as e.g 127.1.1.0 and 127.1.1.1 each one in new line
    • Press Escape  to end editing the file and Save the file
