In this article we are going to understand the major deference between Sub-domains, Addon Domains and Parked – Aliases domains.

Subdomain

A subdomain is a domain that is a part of a primary domain under the Domain Name System  hierarchy. It is used as an easy way to create a more memorable Web address for specific or unique content with a website. Its like  second website with independent unique contents. As example assuming you have a primary domain name www.mydomain.com the sub-domains may looks like forums.mydomain.com, blogs.mydomain.com.

Addon Domain

An addon domain is a second website, with its own unique content. The Addon domain require you to register the domain before you add it as addon domain , its like a new website and don’t require to have the same name its totally different domain name.

Parked or Aliases Domains

A parked domain or Aliases domain is NOT a unique website. Instead, it is a masked forward to the primary domain name of your cPanel account, much like a website alias. In general parked or aliases domains are used in case you have more than one domain want to be marked to your primary domain name.
